Background
The 33 year old man in breach was inside the female’s family home on the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and 24th Avenue.
Immediately upon arrival, the police made phone contact with the man in the house and the family was successfully evacuated. Soon after, they heard a gunshot inside the home. Due to a potentially armed man inside the house, the police brought in SWAT, drones, K-9 unit, and many more officers for reinforcement.
Standoff
A standoff ensued which lasted 4 hours with the officers trying to talk the man into surrender. The officers did not enter immediately to avoid putting lives in danger unnecessarily. After getting a search warrant, the officers finally decided it was safe to go inside. They entered the home at around 11:30 am and found the man with a suspected self inflicted gun shot wound.
The man was treated by medics, taken to Yakima Multi-Care, and then taken to a trauma center on the west side and was determined to be in critical condition.
This is all we know about the case currently but we will keep you posted!
