Wanted Man Arrested Friday At Union Gap Motel
Police from Yakima and Union Gap arrested a man Friday wanted in connection to last Thursday's shooting in front of the Sunshine Motel on North First Street. Yakima Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says they received information that 25-year-old Gilbert Penazola was staying at a Union Gap motel. And that's where officers spotted the suspect at about 7:30 a.m. Friday. "Yakima Police officers were involved as well as Union Gap Police officers. The suspect started running away from the motel but was taken into custody after a short foot chase."
Penazola is accused of shooting 44-year-old Gavin Parker after an altercation near the motel in the 1200 block of North First. Parker remains at a local hospital. Penazola is being held in the Yakima County jail.
