The City of Yakima wants to prevent grass and brush fires so you need to cut your lawn. City officials say all the rain and sun has caused major growth and that's caused a big concern about city grass and brush fires. Earlier this week a spark started a grass fire that also damaged a home on 8th Street. Now the city code department is starting to site people with overgrown and neglected lawns. The first visit will get you a warning. The second visit will get you a fine of up to $700 after the city cuts the lawn for you.
