Union Gaps economy got a big boost this week after a number of new businesses have opened, offering plenty of jobs. Thursday Cabella's Outpost Store opened. The new Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar has opened in the Yakima Valley Mall. It offers more than signature martinis or happy hour specials; the restaurant brings 65 jobs to the Yakima Valley.

Twigs is one of three new businesses to the area. A new J C Penney opened its doors Sunday, adding 65,000 square feet of shopping to the valley, and 115 jobs. Some 90 jobs have been filled at the new Cabella's store.  City leaders say it will take a couple months to determine what it will mean for sales taxes but they say they expect a boost in revenue.
