Fire crews in Yakima County worked throughout the night to put out the remaining hot spots from a large brush fire in Union Gap reported Monday afternoon. The Union Gap Fire Chief says the blaze along the 3000 Block of Goodman Road started shortly before 2 p.m. Monday and is now fully contained. The fire threatened the La Salle High School property and several homes but no homes or other property was damaged.

A nearby resident, Morgan Shilling says the fire was getting a little too close for comfort.

"If it came this way with the wind there would have been so many like houses in panic and everything."
More than 50 firefighters responded to the brush fire. The fire chief said the blaze took several hours to get under control.

The chief believes the fire started by someone dropping a match.
