While kids are out for the summer Toppenish Principal Trevor Greene is up for a national award of Principal of the year. Greene is one of six educators competing for the award presented by the National Principals Association and MetLife. Each of the finalists will receive a $1,500 grant.

The Toppenish High School has a 95% minority student population and all students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Greene has been at the school for four years and has given more students access to rigorous classes and helped them earn college credit. Superintendent of Toppenish School District says Greene has created a warm, inviting and secure school climate.
