Police know it's that time of year when kids start street racing. The result is usually tragic. Two people were seriously injured in a street race on South 72nd Avenue at about 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The two passengers were still inside the car and were unconscious when authorities arrived. Fire department personnel had to remove the driver, a 17-year-old boy, from the vehicle. The driver and the passenger, a 33-year-old man, were transported to Yakima Regional Hospital and were later flown to Harborview  Medical Center in Seattle. Yakima police say they sustained life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other car was not injured. It is  unknown whether either driver will face charges.
