A 3rd man has been arrested in connection with last Monday's shooting involving a Washington State Patrol trooper near Grandview. The 20-year-old man was arrested on charges of rendering criminal assistance for helping one of the two suspects after the shooting.
Officials say 18-year-old Manuel Aviles, of Mabton, and 39-year-old Felipe Cortes-Barajas, of Grandview are being held in the Yakima County jail for investigation of first-degree assault, as well as drug and gun charges.
Authorities say the trooper stopped the men for speeding near Grandview. The two suspects exited the vehicle and begin shooting at the trooper who returned fire. The men then ran away and were arrested last Thursday. The trooper was not injured.
