The search for Union Gap's city manager and police chief is far from over. The city manager position became vacant when voters got rid of their strong-mayor government last November. Union Gap tells us there were 20 applicants for the city manager position. They have narrowed that down to five. One city resident says he does not care how long the process takes, he is happy to see the change.

"How they get it all as one instead of just one guy, it is better the way it is now than what it was," Rick Hall said.

The police chief position would not be filled until a new manager is hired. It might take until late spring to fill the city manager position.
