The North Meyers Road Bridge near Toppenish is now finally reopened after being closed for almost two years.

Completion of the new bridge reopens the second of only two arterial roads into Toppenish from Interstate 82 and is welcome relief to a congested Buena Way that served as the default road these last two years.

It's hard to imagine over 7,000 cars daily traveling along the road each day but the 71-year-old bridge was in bad repair.

It scored an 8 on a scale of 100 in 2001 on the DOT scale of bridges.

The good news: The bridge is open and functioning, greatly increasing traffic flow and safety into Toppenish.
