A Yakima County sheriff's spokesman says a 14-year-old Naches Valley High School student accused of making "very detailed plans" to kill three other students has been arrested.

Sheriff's Sgt. Mike Russell says his office began investigating Wednesday after getting a report from a "concerned citizen" that the boy was planning to kill the other students, also 14, at school.

The spokesman says detectives have not determined when this was supposed to happen. He declined to provide details about the alleged plan.

Russell says the arrested boy also made suicidal statements and precautions have been taken at a juvenile detention center to make sure he doesn't harm himself. The boy was arrested Wednesday at his home.

Naches Superintendent Duane Lyons says the threats were not made at school.

Lyons said the sheriff's office notified him of the alleged plot and also notified the parents of the three other students. The superintendent says the district will let the sheriff's office deal with the matter.
