TRI-CITIES, Wash. (AP) — A teen girl who helped her boyfriend and his friend kidnap an 86-year-old woman who was stuffed into the trunk of her car has been ordered to serve up to 2 ½ years in juvenile rehabilitation.

The Tri-City Herald reports that the 15-year-old was sentenced Monday after being convicted of first-degree kidnapping, residential burglary and second-degree theft of a vehicle in connection with the November incident.

The victim, Hazel Abel, was bound and stuffed in the trunk of her car and driven 200 miles to a Walmart near Portland. She was able to free herself from the vehicle while the teens were inside the store.

The 15- and 16-year-old boys, one of whom is the great-grandson of the victim, are charged as adults in the case.
