Up and down the west coast of the US, there is no shortage of amazing places to enjoy this popular winter sport, with some locations offering year-round options.

The snow is falling in the Washington Cascades and skiers and riders are getting excited about another upcoming season that starts on Friday at the White Pass Ski area.

Spokesperson Kathleen Goyette says it's a great time to have family fun in the mountains.

Goyette says bring your mask if you want to go into a lodge but don't look for spacing in chairlift lines or while riding on chairlifts.

With more snow in the forecast, Bureau of Reclamation officials expect the snow pack in the lower basin to be normal or above before the end of the month.

The National Weather Service predicts more than 15 inches of snow Friday and Friday night, then another 3 to 5 inches of new snow on Saturday.
