It's still winter, just in case the sunshine and warmer-than-normal temperatures had you thinking an early spring had arrived. It hasn't. In fact the snow is still falling in the Washington Cascades, even closing mountain passes in early and mid-February.

But all that snow has translated into big business at ski resorts like the White Pass Ski Area, where they've seen record crowds so far this year. Manager Kevin McCarthy tells KIT News they've had some parking headaches this year and are hoping more people carpool for better parking. McCarthy says they're looking at parking area expansions and possible shuttles from both sides of the pass as well.

All that snow is good news for local growers who are watching the snow pack.
The latest February snow pack readings show the upper Yakima Basin at 91 percent of normal and the lower Yakima basin at 104 percent.

With more snow in the forecast, Bureau of Reclamation officials expect the snow pack in the upper basin to be normal or above before the end of the month.
