A suspected arsonist accused of setting five fires in White Swan made his first appearance in court on May 29 wtih bail set at $1 million. Accoding to our news partner KIMA Action News, Yakima County deputies arrested Roy Carrizal last week after following tips from White Swan residents. Court documents indicate Carrizal showed up in a store's surveillance video walking near where the first fire started earlier this month. Crews in White Swan put out several fires that happened within days of each other.

Carrizal was later identified by his brother-in-law, who told investigators the suspect suffers from mental illness and has had issues with fires in the past. Carrizal is facing five counts of second-degree arson and will appear in court again next month.
