Motorized trails on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Naches Ranger District, will be closed to all traffic today thru June 15th unless weather and trail conditions warrant an earlier opening.

“After considerable effort to communicate our intentions to the public I have decided to proceed with an emergency closure of the motorized trail system this spring,” said District Ranger Irene Davidson. The primary objectives of the closure are to minimize trail and resource damage and to reduce annual maintenance needs stemming from use during the wet season.

The decision applies to all trails with any type of motorized designation on the Naches Ranger District. “If a trail is designated closed, it is closed to all users, motorized or not,” said Davidson.

Selected closure dates are based on weather information and existing trail conditions. Much of the motorized trail system is still under snow. Sections that have melted out remain extremely wet. Depending on weather and drying conditions, trails in different areas may open earlier or later than June 15th.
