Our kids focus so much attention on body image. Our teens are being social media bullied into suicide. They are getting botox and boob jobs, nose jobs and ear bobs so they will fit some peer pressured sense of acceptable appearance.  It’s sad, tragic and ridiculous all at the same time.  Here’s the latest on the battle to be thin so as to be “in”.

Despite the full knowledge that smoking cigarettes is known to be risky, but a new study suggests many American teens are lighting up to lose weight.

Researchers looked at data from nearly 10,500 kids ages 11 to 15 and among frequent smokers, 46 percent of girls and 30 percent of boys said weight control was one of the reasons they smoked.

Also girls who believed they were "much too fat" were nearly 225 percent more likely to smoke to lose weight than girls who felt their weight was about right. The scientists suggest the U.S. Food and Drug Administration prohibit cigarette makers from promoting the idea that smoking can help people control or lose weight as it could help discourage teens from buying them.
