A week ago we recognized the first ever National Technology Day but for folk shopping for a new car, everyday is technology day!

A new AutoTrader study finds that among vehicle shoppers, technology is now more important than car color. The study says 77% of car buyers don't want to sacrifice safety, but they do want the high tech.

In fact, auto industry insiders say they expect cars will become modular and can be altered based on long/short-haul trips or type of entertainment/work experience that is needed in the car.

Other findings:
--83 percent say that advanced safety features are more important to them than information and entertainment features
--70 percent are more likely to consider a car with autonomous features such as parking assist, collision avoidance and automatic braking
--65 percent would watch the road even if they weren’t driving an autonomous car
--65 percent would switch brands to get the technology features they want
--60 percent of drivers in 2015 still think self-driving cars are a dangerous idea, a drop from 65 percent the year before
--57 percent want automakers to focus on better integrating smartphones into a generic system such as Apple Car Play or Android Auto that would be available in all vehicles
--52 percent would be comfortable riding or driving in a vehicle with self-driving technology
--46 percent would pay up to $15-hundred dollars for an interactive dashboard
--11 percent would use their time in a self-driving car to work
