An investigation into a Sunday shooting in Terrace Heights has turned to a second suspect.

Yakima County sheriff's deputies say an 18-year-old man was house-sitting in the 300 block of Santa Roza Drive early Sunday morning when he heard noises coming from the driveway. He went outside and found two males inside and around his car. The 18-year-old went back inside and retrieved a rifle. When he confronted the two males, they ran.

The 18-year-old fired one shot, which hit a 17-year-old suspect in the leg. Deputies say the second suspect escaped. The 18-year-old then put the gun away, called 9-1-1 and gave medical attention to the suspect before paramedics arrived.

The suspect was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with a serious injury that is not considered life threatening.

No arrests have been made, and detectives are searching for the second suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call the county sheriff's office at 574-2500 or Crime Stoppers of Yakima at 509-248-9980 or 800-248-9980.
