Police in Selah say a suspect wanted in connection with a homicide early Friday morning has been found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.
Officers from the Selah Police Department were called to a home in the 100 block of East 10th Avenue at about 1:20 a.m. Friday for a welfare check of a suicidal male. A news release says family members, who made the call to law enforcement initially, told officers the male called them to come pick up his children from the home. As a result of that conversation, the family relayed that something didn’t seem right.
When officers arrived at the home they found a woman dead and the man gone.
During the investigation at the home, the man called family members saying he wasn't going to surrender to police if he was found. A short time later his empty vehicle was located along Interstate 82 in Kittitas County. After a search of the area, the man was found dead of what police say was a self inflicted gunshot.
The names of the victim and the suspect are not being released at this time. This investigation is ongoing.
