Last week, we looked at two of Yakima's smallest city parks. Today, we check out one of the largest.

West Valley Community Park came into existence as a project of the West Valley Lions Club. After a city annexation and some money difficulties, the park became part of the city parks system.

This park has plenty of wide open spaces, and some great facilities.

  • Picnic Shelters
  • Tennis Courts
  • Basketball Court
  • Volleyball Court
  • Horseshoe Pits
  • Walking Trail
  • Play Equipment

Picnic Shelters can be reserved through Yakima's Parks and Recreation Department. As in all Yakima City Parks, no alcohol is allowed. It's large expanse is great for large gatherings.

The park's main entrance is located at 1323 South 80th Avenue, and is also accessible from a gate  adjacent to West Valley Middle School.
