Yakima’s Best Biking Trails
While everyone is talking about family-friendly summer activities in Yakima, who doesn't love biking? Yakima is certainly a beautiful place to ride, yet not everyone knows where to go. Here are three of the best paved biking trails in the Yakima area, in no particular order:
Yakima Greenway
The Greenway is the gold standard of Yakima bike trails. Spanning 20 miles from Union Gap to Naches, it runs right along the Yakima and Naches rivers! On the way, you will see multiple fishing lakes, two developed parks, the Yakima Area Arboretum, and dining with the Riverside Bistro. The start point is at 27 Orchard St., Naches while the endpoint is located to the left of the roundabout at the exit of I-82 and Valley Mall Blvd in Union Gap. You can find larger parking spots at Harlan Landing, Sarg Hubbard Park, and the Yakima Area Arboretum.
Powerhouse Canal Trail
For more residential and city scenery, Yakimanians should try the Powerhouse Canal Trail. It is a much shorter ride than the Greenway at only 2.45 miles. The trail begins at McGuiness Park and winds through different neighborhoods and schools. The end point is at Chesterley Park which contains a skate park, YMCA, and dining across the street with McDonalds, Powerhouse Grill, and Starbucks! Both McGuiness Park and Chesterley have extensive parking.

Lower Yakima Valley Pathway
The Lower Yakima Valley is a 14 mile trail spanning Sunnyside, Grandview, Prosser. The trail goes alongside an old railroad track through towns, orchards, and vineyards. The path begins at the intersection of Wine Country Road and Grant Avenue in Prosser, and ends at the intersection of Morgan Road and Yakima Valley Highway in Sunnyside. The end point is home to the Mid-Valley Mall, a small shopping center with plenty of dining.
