Police Investigating After Man Is Shot and His House Set on Fire
A shooting and fire are under investigation by Yakima Police. Police say they found a man inside his home in the 1100 block of North Third Street Monday night, suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was taken to a hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover.
According to a news release officers were called to the area because of a report of shots fired. They found 60-year-old Daniel Arellano of Yakima shortly after 10 p.m. Monday inside his home. He'd been shot once in the left thigh.
Then early Tuesday at about 12:30 a.m. police say a fire was reported at Arellano‘s home. The fire caused minor damage to the exterior of the home before the flames were doused by firefighters.
Police say they detained a man who was seen near Arellano's home at the time of the fire but the person was released as the investigation continues.
