NINE LOCAL FOOD BANKS ARE WAITING

A press release from Yakima Rotary says the aim is to help fill the shelves of nine local food banks as they prepare for the winter months ahead. You'll soon find an empty paper bag on your porch delivered by Rotary officials hoping you'll fill the bags with good non-perishable food and place the bag on your front porch by 8:00 am October 11.

THAT'S ALL YOU HAVE TO DO

Rotarians and community volunteers will pick up the food and deliver it to the Yakima Downtown Rotary Pavilion on Yakima Avenue, where all food will be sorted and distributed to local food banks. Sheri Bissell, Downtown Yakima Rotary President says "Operation Harvest is one of the most impactful community projects we do each year. Every bag filled helps families in our valley make it through the cold winter months. The generosity of Yakima residents keeps this tradition alive and thriving."

YOU'VE BEEN HELPING FOR DECADES

The press release says for decades Operation Harvest has been a big help to area food banks that serve as a lifeline for families in the Yakima Valley. Bissell says the event creates a ripple effect of generosity that strengthens the entire community.
Food bank operators are very thankful for the help directly from residents in the community. Many of the food banks work with area stores and bakeries for food to fill shelves so when you're filling your bag with non=perishable food think about what families might like to enjoy as a good meal.
