Detective Justin Mallonee has been named the 2010 Officer Of The Year by the Yakima County Sheriff's Office. Mallonee was hired in 2004 and last year achieved the position of detective. Sheriff Ken Irwin says Mallonee is a well respected, well liked, and well rounded deputy who teaches defensive tactics, is a very good firearms instructor, gives classes on home safety to citizens and presentations on law enforcement to students. Mallonee was recognized while in the patrol division as an exceptional field training officer who sets a high standard for self-initiated activity, a quality work product and pushes co-workers to do the same. Irwin says he's honored to name Mallonee as the 2010 Officer Of The Year.
