No Motive Yet in The Death of 4 In Toppenish Thursday
So what caused a 19-year-old man to shoot 4 others and himself Thursday in Toppenish? It's a question a lot of people are asking today.
POLICE SAY NO NAMES WILL BE RELEASED UNTIL ALL FAMILY MEMBERS ARE NOTIFIED
Toppenish Police were called to the 200 block of Pearne Street at about 5:00 am Thursday. When Officers arrived they found a 13-year-old male, 18-year-old female, 21-year-old female and 19-year-old male dead from gunshot wounds. A fifth person, a 21-year-old man, was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Police say the 19-year-old shooter took his own life. No names have been released.
AUTHORITIES BELIEVE THE SHOOTER ACTED ALONE
Toppenish Police are handling the investigation calling it a heinous act in a news release. They say they believe the 19-year-old shooter acted alone so there's no threat to the community and no search for a suspect. But that isn't stopping authorities from working to find a motive in the deaths. Police are urging the community to respect the privacy of victims and "allow them the space to focus on recovery."
HAVE YOU HEARD ANYONE TALKING ABOUT THE CRIME?
The press release says the "Toppenish Police Department would like to express our sincerest condolences to the families and friends of the victims affected by this senseless act of violence."
