SPOKANE (AP) — The new Washington State University medical school is accepting applications for its first class.

The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, located in Spokane, plans to enroll 60 students in the inaugural class next August.

The college is seeking applicants from the state of Washington. They will also consider people who were born in Washington, lived in the state as children, graduated from high school in Washington or have a parent who lives in Washington.

The new medical school received preliminary accreditation in mid-October.

It is the second public medical school in the state, after the University of Washington.
