A new four legged police officer is on the job in Yakima. Yakima Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says the departments new K-9 named Trex and his partner/handler Officer Mark Mckinney start work together this week. "They've gone through all of the certification so they start their job together this Friday."
Trex replaces the retired K-9 Dexter who was retired earlier this year. Trex is a tracking dog and Bastinelli says he'll be vital in helping to find wanted suspects with a nose and other skills that no other officer has in the department.
Bastinelli says the department is in the process of searching for another K-9 to add to the department in the near future.
