More Yakima Citizens Buying Guns
More people are buying guns and arming themselves in the Yakima Valley. Apparently it turns out guns were a popular gift this Christmas. Our news partner kima action news learned gun sales climbed by a quarter over the holidays compared to last year. Police say people are concerned about crime.
"The citizens in Yakima see the crime that's happening we've had a number of home invasion robberies and I think it's just a pretty clear picture that people are arming themselves," said Captain Rod Light.
Gun store managers say about half of the buyers were first time gun owners.
