Man Killed at Yakima Hotel Police Searching for a Suspect
Yakima Police are investigating a homicide reported late Tuesday. Capt. Jay Seely says officers were called to the Yakima Inn at 1022 North 1st Street at 10:38 pm Tuesday for a shooting.
Officers found a man dead in a room at the hotel
When officers arrived they found a 38-year-old man dead in one of the rooms of the hotel. The man, who hasn't been identified died from a gunshot wound to the head. Officers on the scene alerted Detectives from the Yakima Police Department’s Major Crimes who are now investigating the murder. A press release says detectives collected evidence, interviewed witnesses and located video security footage from the Yakima Inn. Seely says “at this point, based on video security footage, several people may have witnessed the shooter leaving the hotel room. Our hope is these witnesses come forward and help us arrest the person responsible for this homicide,”

Police are still investigating a shooting reported at the east Yakima Walmart
Yakima Police are investigating a shooting reported at the Walmart in east Yakima last Thursday. Officers were called to the store on East Chestnut at about 4:00 pm. When they arrived they found a 31-year-old man from Toppenish who was shot multiple times in the neck and chest. Authorities say they believe the shooting was a case of self defense. Police say the man from Toppenish tried to rob a family in the Walmart parking lot before being shot. The man who fired shots called police and was not arrested. The investigation continues today.
