Man Shot By Officers At Cascade Apartments Christmas Night

Two Yakima Police officers are on administrative leave after a fatal shooting at a Yakima apartment on Christmas night. Police were called to the Cascade Apartments at 20 East Sgt. Pendleton Way at about 7:30 p.m. after they say the 31-year-old suspect, who was blind threatened others with a gun. When officers arrived the suspect then barricaded himself inside his apartment. Officers attempted to negotiate with the suspect for the five hours. Authorities eventually broke into the apartment and confronted the man who was shot by two officers. The 31-year-old suspect died at the scene. Yakima police are investigating the shooting.
