A 30-year-old Yakima man was arrested after a high speed chase Wednesday night. Yakima County Sheriff's deputies tried to stop the man for speeding on Harrison Road near the Yakima River bridge north of Selah, but he took off and a chase followed. A news release says the driver fled north onto Sheep Company Road and continued to Old Durr Road. The suspect driver then pulled his vehicle off the road and tried to hide in some tall sagebrush. But he was found by Fish and Wildlife officers.
The release says as they drove past the the suspects cell phone screen lit up showing the suspects location.
The suspect was arrested and charged with eluding and driving on a suspended drivers license. He's being held the Yakima County jail.
The truck the suspect was driving belonged to a 64-year-old man from Selah who drove to the scene and arrived soon after the suspect was arrested. The release says "the man spoke with several officers/deputies on scene and expressed his disappointment in the younger suspect’s decisions from the evening. It was immediately noticed by the officers on scene the elder male was intoxicated and obviously drove himself drunk to this scene. He was uneasy on his feet and smelled of intoxicants. His freshly urinated pants were also a clue.

The elder male was arrested and booked into the County Jail by WSP for DUI. Both trucks were impounded."
