The year 2024 welcomes Super Bowl 58 (yeah, I know it’s supposed to be written in Roman numerals, but that gets way too confusing for me). The battle for the top two teams for the NFL championship comes down to four very popular American football teams:

Whoever becomes the division champ for the AFC vs NFC will be playing the Super Bowl at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and they’ve already announced that the next two Super Bowls will be played at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans in 2025, and Levi’s Stadium in 2026.

This won’t be the first time a Super Bowl has been played at Levi’s Stadium. Let’s take a look back at the top superbowl showdowns that have been played in California.

L.A. Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles

The first Super Bowl was played at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum in 1967. The Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Green Bay Packers. Only one other big game was played here: Super Bowl 7 with the Washington Commanders, née Redskins, losing to the Miami Dolphins.

SoFi Stadium in Inglewood

Super Bowl 56 was played at at SoFi Stadium, with the Cincinatti Bengals losing to the Los Angeles Rams.

SDCCU Stadium in San Diego

Three Super Bowl games were played in San Diego at the SDCCU Stadium. RIP! The stadium was demolished in 2020 to make way for the new stadium for the San Diego Snapdragons.

Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara

Super Bowl 50 was played here, with the Carolina Panthers losing to the Denver Broncos. The big game returns here in 2026.

Stanford Stadium in Stanford

Only one Super Bowl was played here, #19. The Miami Dolphins suffered defeat at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers.

Super Bowl 57 begins at 3:30 p.m. (Pacific Time) on Sunday, February 11th in Las Vegas.

I can’t wait for the Halftime show, starring Usher with special surprise guests! Watch the shenanigans on CBS (or see the “kids version” on Nickelodeon).
