Less Golf, More on the Gravity Please — Dave’s Diary

As we roll into the Labor Day weekend with boating and barbecues, we need to keep in mind the 13^th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack is just 12 days. Interpret that: Remember Benghazi.

The Newsmax organization has a couple of reports worth considering.

“In remarks to about 250 supporters who paid as much as $15,000 per couple to attend a backyard barbecue in Purchase, N.Y., Obama today said the brutality of Islamic State extremists in Iraq and Syria, and Russia’s incursion into Ukraine, has made Americans anxious about turmoil overseas.”

Obama went on to say …“This is not something that’s comparable to the challenges we faced in the Cold War ... This is something we can handle.”

“The world has always been messy,” Obama said. “We will get through these challenging times just like we have in the past.”

Does that inspire your confidence just days after the president commented on the bloodthirsty terrorist group ISIS saying “"I don't want to put the cart before the horse. We don't have a strategy yet."

At the same time from another article from Newsmax: “Islamic State and al-Qaida terrorist cells are operating in a Mexican border town and are plotting to attack the United States with car bombs and improvised explosive devices, according to Judicial Watch, citing intelligence sources.  A red alert has been issued by Homeland Security, the Justice Department, and the Department of Defense to its agents to actively investigate all possible leads to what the government watchdog group says is "an imminent terrorist threat."

The article continues ... ”Officials have picked up radio talk and chatter indicating that the group formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and al-Qaida groups are going to "carry out an attack on the border," … "It’s coming very soon," according to the source.”

I don’t know how much of that is true and I don’t want to be an alarmist but the U.S. is the ultimate target for radical Islam.

The anniversary of 9/11 is coming and it probably makes pretty good sense to be on our guard.

On this Labor Day weekend I appreciate the labor of our men and women in uniform as they seek to keep us safe.

I would also appreciate a little more labor from the White House and a little less fun on the links as the anniversary draws near.
