The last few ballots that remain from Tuesday's General Election are being counted this afternoon. Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross says there's less than 100 ballots left to count. "I would say as of now the 35,042 ballots we are looking at now are it."
More than 107,000 ballots were issued for the election that was called historic because of the change made in the system and the fact that 3 Latinos were elected to the council for the first time in city history. Ross says he expected at least a 36 to 38 percent turnout. He says he was suprised to see so many ballots, nearly 8,000 on election night. The election will be certified on November 24.
