It’s Spring Time To Clear The Snow

Here’s another sign of Spring. Work will start soon to open Cayuse and Chinook passes north of Packwood. There’s 14 feet of snow at Cayuse Pass. now, crews are working to open the pass where State Routes 410 and 123 meet. They hope to have it open by the middle of the month. Workers will turn their attention soon to Chinook Pass. There’s 18 feet of snow at that summit. It might be able to open by Memorial day. The earliest Chinook Pass opening was April 5th of 1973. The latest was July 12 of 1974.
