It’s Spring and It’s Time For Wine Tastes Straight From The Barrel
Did you know that the Yakima Valley is the oldest wine region in the state? It's time to celebrate wine this month during the annual Spring Barrel Tasting event set for April 26-28.
IF YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING YOU'LL LIKELY LEARN A LOT ABOUT WINE
John Cooper, President & CEO of Yakima Valley Tourism says “many of the wine makers will pull tastes straight from the barrel, giving you a sneak peek at how their young vintages may mature.” He says besides great wine tasting "Wineries will create a range of tasting, pairing and educational experiences around the wine making process to give guests a greater understanding of how wines are crafted.” Some of the wineries will also have food vendors, entertainment and other activities.
IT'S A HUGELY POPULAR EVENT
It's one of the most popular events of the year so you can expect big crowds. Along with tastings some wineries offer a chance for you to purchase the wine that's not been officially bottled. There is no paid passport or ticket required, however you may see tasting or event fees at some wineries plus some may charge for wine glasses.
DON'T FORGET YOUR DESIGNATED DRIVER
If you plan on attending the event at 30 plus wineries in the Yakima Valley don't forget you'll need your own wine glass if you don't want to purchase a glass. Also authorities are hoping you'll find a designated driver.
