CENTRALIA, Wash. (AP) — There's a wedding in Centralia, and the vows might cover "in City Council and in health."

The Olympian newspaper reports that Centralia Mayor Bonnie Canaday and City Councilor Lee Coumbs, the city's mayor pro-tem, were getting married Sunday evening.

The ceremony was set for 6 p.m. at a gazebo in Washington Park, at the conclusion of a music-in-the-park performance, and it was open to the public. The mayor ordered 1,000 cupcakes for those in attendance.

Canaday says the couple researched the issue to ensure there are no legal complications with a married couple serving on the council. She says that despite the marriage they will continue to vote in a way that suits their constituents.
