Another attempt to count the number of people in Yakima County who are homeless happens on Thursday. The annual Point In Time survey is used as a tool to help fight homelessness. The numbers help determine federal and state funding for local homeless programs. It also gives service providers an idea about who is most affected. Volunteers, human service agencies, and staffers will be working on the effort on Thursday. Two service fairs will be held in Yakima and Sunnyside offering information ranging from Veteran’s services to a hot meal. The service fairs will be held at the Morning Star Church in Yakima and at St. Josephs Church in Sunnyside. Volunteers are needed. Call Yakima County Department of Human Services to help at 574 1520.
