A fire in Gleed on Friday night took the life of an elderly woman. Gleed Fire Chief James Kohl says the fire was reported at about 11 o'clock Friday night and when they arrived flames had engulfed a part of the home in the 1400 block of Old Naches Highway. The 90 year old victim, Bertha Garrison died of smoke inhalation. She was found on the kitchen floor. James says she may have been trying to douse the flames or she may have been trying to escape out a back door when she died. The cause is under investigation but firefighters say the cause is accidental and that the fire started in the living room.
