Get Your Spook on While Riding Yakima’s Halloween Trolley
Did you know that Yakima has something that no one else in the country has? The very last intact early American electric interurban railroad. I know it's a mouthful but it's really something special. The Yakima Trolley crew has a stable of trolleys but also has obtained the exact type of trolley that used to run in the earliest of days of Yakima's railway!
They have been very busy working to restore it to like-new condition for the community to enjoy along with the other trolleys and if you were curious, the labor and parts aren't cheap. The good news is they're only $50,000 away from raising the $300,000 they need so if you'd like to help, The Yakima Valley Trolleys are always accepting donations.
Each season, the trolleys take Yakima Valley residents and visitors on tours across the town's railway system, and earlier this month they tested the cars to make sure everything was good to go, why? Because it's time for Halloween rides! I spoke with the President of the Yakima Valley Trolleys and was told they all passed inspection so here are the details to mark your calendar
The Halloween Trolley will run on Saturday, October 30th and Sunday, October 31st from 10 am to 3 pm. The fare will be $5.00 per person.
What makes this experience so unique is the fact that we're currently on the National Registry of Historic Places and also working towards becoming a National Historic Landmark. It's a rare item to add to your bucket list and a fun way to connect with Yakima history.
