Police shootings are tragically in the news again, the latest coming out of Houston, Texas.  Communities across the country are looking for ways to protect their officers as their officers look to protect them.

One thing Yakima has been doing to good success is arranging for the Yakima Police Department (YPD) to host Coffee with a Cop events with the next one scheduled from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 5th.  YPD’s Coffee with a Cop will be at the Sub Shop, 20 North 2nd Street.

A City of Yakima News Release says, “The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down the barriers between police officers and the community they serve,” said Interim Police Chief Gary Jones. “It’s an opportunity for the public to ask questions and get to know their officers, building relationships one cup at a time.”
