Due to the State's budget cuts, the District will no longer be able to fund a full-day kindergarten program. The District recognizes the importance of attempting to continue the program. In order to sustain it, the District is in the process of developing a tuition-based, sliding scale following the National School Lunch Program guidelines.

The tuition is based on participation in the program. Therefore, we are asking parents to commit to paying a monthly tuition for a full-day kinder program by submitting the District's Full-Day Kindergarten Interest form along with a refundable deposit of $350. If the kinder student qualifies as free or reduced under the National School Lunch Program guidelines, the refundable deposit is $75. The number of forms and deposits received will allow the District to determine the feasibility of a tuition-based program and the actual tuition for the

2011-12 school year. The tuition could possibly be $350 to $500 per month.

We are asking parents to submit the form along with their deposit to the West Valley Administration Office, located at 8902 Zier Road, Yakima, Washington. Forms will be available at each school office or by accessing the District's website at www.wvsd208.org. Forms will be accepted starting May 23, 2011 through June 3, 2011. The interest will determine the tuition amount, so the greater the participation, the less the tuition will be.

The District appreciates the cooperation from the staff and parents in an attempt to continue our full-day kindergarten program.
