Free Food Workshops Help Yakima Vendors Prepare for Summer
The Yakima Health District, in partnership with the Downtown Association of Yakima, Nuestra Casa, Zócalo of Yakima, and South Central Workforce, is kicking off a series of free bilingual workshops called Flavors of the Community.
A BUSY SUMMER OF CELEBRATIONS AND EVENTS
District officials say the Temporary Food Event Workshops are designed to support local food vendors as they prepare for the upcoming busy community event season in the Yakima valley. The first workshop is set for June 3, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, at the Rotary Pavilion located at 15 West Yakima Avenue. The second session is scheduled for June 10, from 5:30-7:30 pm, at Nuestra Casa, 307 South 7th Street in Sunnyside.

REAL LIFE EDUCATION
If you attend you can expect mock vendor setups, presentations from food safety inspectors, hands-on guidance to meet inspection requirements, and detailed information on how to apply for a food permit.
The goal is to help vendors understand and navigate health regulations to make sure everyone stays safe.
LEARN IN A BILINGUAL ENVIRONMENT
The workshops are open to all local food vendors and community members interested in learning more about food safety and permitting.
Vendors are encouraged to attend and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to enhance food service skills in a bilingual environment. For more information, contact the Yakima Health District.
