A big food drive is planned in Yakima Saturday to help fill the shelves at the Salvation Army food bank. Lisa Sargent is the Community Engagement Coordinator says their food bank is overwhelmed during the pandemic. The food drive will be held in the Yakima Eagles parking lot at 307 West Chestnut from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
She says they're looking for donations of bottled water and non-perishable food; peanut butter, canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, soups and broths, beans and cereal.
Cash or check donations are accepted as well.
In Grandview on Saturday the Grandview Salvation Army is holding a food box giveaway. Produce boxes will be given to the community starting at 10:00 a.m. at 206 Avenue A in Grandview.
