Flu cases are on the rise in Yakima County now that we're in the heart of the flu season. Ruth Rosencranz with the Yakima County Health District says area schools and businesses start seeing absences during the months of October and November. Rosencranz says it's never too late to get that flu shot that will give you 9 to 12 months of protection through the flu season. Flu shots are 25 to 30 dollars at area pharmacies and supermarkets. Many times if you have insurance the shot wont' cost you a penny. Rosencranz says even if you have to pay for the shot it's a lot cheaper than losing time at work because you're sick. And she says if you're not feeling good stay home rather than spreading your sickness to others at work.
