Crime Sees An Increase During The Holidays Say Police

Yakima Police say even though it's the season of giving there's a lot of people taking this month. Burglaries, shoplifting, package theft and vehicle prowls are the most popular crimes this time of year say police.
Lt. Mike Pollard says if you see something suspicious call police. "Get out your camera and take a picture. Call police of course but help us to so we can catch them."
Pollard says package theft is a big problem at this time of year because so many people are shopping online. He suggests having packages sent to your work or family or friends to make sure your package or packages are safe.

Pollard adds lock doors of homes and vehicles and if you are going shopping remember to never leave your package in plain view. Pollard says theives are always looking for crimes of opportunity.
