City To Talk About Car Tab Increase In The New Year

Are you ready for an increase in your car tabs to pay for Yakima City streets? With the new year will come a discussion of raising car tab fees 20 bucks to pay for city streets. Mayor Micah Cawley admits it won't be an easy sell but he tells KIT News because of all the other major cuts in the city budget a new car tab tax is the only option to help maintain streets other than a floating a major street bond. Earlier this month the city council started the discussion about the proposed car tab tax. Cawley says he wants to hold a public hearing before the city talks further about the issue.
