The Yakima City Council on Tuesday approved a 30 thousand dollar contract with consultant Steve Magallan to spend the next year looking for grant money for the city anti gang effort. Magallan is the man who was paid 75 thousand dollars to help put together a community profile to give city officials answers as to how to address the problem.

City leaders also approved a new ordinance to help keep criminals from city parks, giving officers the ability to issue trespass warnings to those suspected of committing crimes in local parks.
