Yakima County Fire District 5 firefighters were busy Saturday night after being called to a bin pile that was on fire on Lundberg Road at the intersection of Lateral A Road. A news release from the fire department says when crews first arrived they found a 20x60 pole building with cherry bins stacked next to the outside fully involved in fire.
Crews, battling wind took a defensive position and worked to salvage the cherry bins that were not already involved in the fire.
In the end firefighters say the building and about 120 wood cherry bins were a total loss. The fire remains under investigation.
